Mickie's Boys

Sam the cat would never be seen with Jock and Robbie.   They are fantastic guys and they may live together but these dogs and cat don't hang out.   The fact that these guys wouldn't get together if there was only one food bowl left on earth posed a particular challenge in doing this painting and helped make it more fun.

Jock and Robbie are Shetland Sheepdogs.   Shetland Sheepdogs can look like miniature collies and the little collie clone in this painting happens to be an enthusiastic klutz.   He waited in a leg cast while his portrait was being finished.

Dogs are cool in their way and cats are cool in theirs.   Even in paint you can sense that these guys are maintaining their coolness.   They should be another famous trio:   The Kingston Trio, The Three Musketeers, Peter, Paul, and Mary, The three bears, The Three Stooges, and Mickie's Boys.
