Germany World Showcase at EPCOT
Oktoberfest originated in 1810. A celebration of the wedding of King Lugwig I to Princess Therese, apparently Oktoberfest has never stopped.
The statue on the left and under the glockenspiel portrays Saint George slaying the dragon. You can pick up sheets of information on all the World Showcase Countries in the Discovery Center inside Innoventions East Side, the end closest to World Showcase - just ask any Cast Member. The info about Germany says The Legend of Saint George has him slaying a dragon while on a pilgrimage to the Middle East.
Oktoberfest! Every day! Toward the back of Germany's pavilion is the Biergarten. Order a Beck's here and you will get a quart-size stein! I don't even drink beer and find this one of the most fun places to eat on all of World Showcase. This buffet style restaurant has seating on a couple of levels surrounding a stage. Entertainment, every hour on the half hour, is lively and boisterous with tubas, cowbells, an accordian, alpen horn and even a musical saw. Seating is family style, so you are bound to make some new friends as you test your singing voice over bratwurst and beer. Kids are encouraged to get down with the band and show off their talents as well. The Biergarten gets a high rating from families.
