Walt Disney World Railroad

A sight to remember
Memories begin here

After a long time away from Walt Disney World, this is exactly where your heart leaps into your throat.   After a walk from the monorail, boat or bus, finally seeing the Walt Disney World Railroad Station from outside the gates assures you that great times are about to begin.   If you're a first timer, noto bene, you will never forget this day.

I have a particular love of this railroad because it represents Walt Disney's desire to entertain.   His search for good clean entertainment for his own children and his love of model railroads is why The Walt Disney World Railroad is here.   I remember films of Walt Disney riding his own 1/8th scale model railroad at his home in the 1950s.

The Walt Disney World Railroad consists of several engines.   One is named the Lilly Belle, his wife's namesake.   These are real locomotives built about 70 years ago and completely restored for the Disney Company.   The locomotives are different so, if you keep a keen eye out, you may be able to sort them out.

Take a ride on the railroad.   Especially if you're a first-timer, explore the circumference of the Magic Kingdom on this relaxing 1 1/2 mile, 20 minute rail journey.

Photos of the train ride to come.
